This directional marker tree is almost surly a Tonkawa directional marker tree. It tree points towards Comal Springs where the Tonkawa people spent allot of time. It is old enough to have seen raids from the Comanches on the Tonkawa from the 1750's to the 1850's. The good these trees did was show travelers a way to find home and water, but the bad they did was to show the invaders where most likely they could find horses or children to steal if they were so inclined to do so.
